A Legacy for Ensuring Lasting Good
In Cultura, Natura, Humanitate
The Fondation Orbis Pictus is a Swiss-based institution of public benefit, pursuing exclusively public-utility objectives across art and culture, development, ecology and environment, and humanitarian action.
The Three Pillars
Our work is founded upon three interconnected domains of endeavour, unified in purpose.
Art & Culture
Preservation of cultural and architectural heritage, promotion of the pictorial and musical arts — through bursaries for emerging musicians, and support of opera companies and young singers.
Development, Ecology & Environment
Promotion of ecological projects and the education of children to respect and protect the environment.
Humanitarian Action
Emergency medical support and the relief of poverty, fostering dignity through considered intervention and lasting solutions.
Public Benefit Purpose
Founded on 16 May 2024 under the provisions of the Swiss Civil Code, the Fondation Orbis Pictus pursues exclusively public-utility objectives. The Foundation channels resources toward initiatives that transcend commercial interest — from preservation of cultural heritage and bursaries for emerging musicians, to ecological education and emergency medical support.
Our work is guided by principles of permanence, discretion, and considered action. We believe that lasting change emerges not from urgency, but from patient dedication to enduring values.
"Orbis Pictus"
From the Latin "The World in Pictures" — a title drawn from the famous 1658 textbook by Czech educator Jan Amos Comenius, widely considered the first illustrated children's textbook. His vision of universal education through imagery inspires our commitment to knowledge, beauty, and understanding.
